Uzbekistan Grape Producers Visited Our Stock Exchange09 September 2025 Tuesday

Halkbank Deputy General Manager Mr. Akhmedov Hasan and a delegation of grape producers from Uzbekistan visited the Manisa Commodity Exchange. During the visit, our Chairman of the Board Mr. Sadık Özkasap, Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Mr. Ali Yılmaz, Treasurer Board Member Mr. Mehmet Ersaygı, and Secretary General Ms. Burcu Sunguroğlu were present. Mr. Nejat Almış, owner of Pagmat Gıda A.Ş., and Mr. Süleyman Yüksel, Manager of Osman Akça A.Ş., also attended the meeting.

During his speech, our Chairman of the Board, Mr. Sadık Özkasap, emphasized that this meeting between the two countries marks the beginning of long-term cooperation in the fields of agriculture and trade. Highlighting that a significant portion of Turkey’s grape exports are carried out from Manisa, Mr. Özkasap stated that Manisa Sultani Seedless Raisin is a globally recognized and well-branded product.

Mr. Özkasap also noted that innovative and technological developments in agriculture form the foundation for sustainable success both in production and in grape trade. He mentioned that frost damage earlier this year had caused considerable losses in production and pointed out that climate change has become a global challenge, not just a national one. Stressing the negative effects of decreasing water resources and extreme temperature fluctuations on agricultural output, Mr. Özkasap reminded producers of the importance of agricultural insurance (TARSİM) against such risks. He also underlined that our Exchange acts as a bridge between producers, exporters, and relevant institutions, playing an active role in addressing the challenges faced by the sector.

During the meeting, both delegations exchanged views and conducted detailed evaluations on agricultural production, export processes, measures against climate change, and sustainable farming practices. Common grounds were identified particularly in improving product quality, creating new markets, and supporting technological investments.

At the end of the visit, both parties exchanged gifts as a symbol of mutual goodwill.
