The number of registered agricultural workers declined year-on-year in all of the 81 cities, with the total decline in agricultural employment reaching 128,000.
The TEPAV Employment Monitoring Bulletin reported that the total number of registered agricultural declined by 12 percent from 1,056,852 in December 2012 to 928,454 in December 2013.
With the numbers having declined in all cities, the sharpest decline in agricultural employment was in Samsun, Konya, Manisa, Antalya and Hatay. In Samsun, agricultural employment declined by 6,720 to 29,258; in Konya by 6,700 to 50,620; in Manisa by 5,615 to 42,620; in Antalya by 4,991 to 45,791; and in Hatay by 4,182 to 29,019.
The Bulletin identified that the decline might indicate an exit from the agricultural sector as well as from the formal sector.
